Wine Spectator: 2015 Reviews

2015 Annia: Crisp lime, grapefruit and green papaya flavors are bright, crisp and elegant, set on a smooth, seamless frame. Accents of wild fennel and saline linger on the finish. Tocai Friulano, Ribolla Gialla and Chardonnay. Drink now. 89 points.

2015 Sauvignon: There’s a lot of intensity and elegance in California Sauvignon Blancs. The very best examples from the Golden State are fragrant and juicy, and have succulent, fleshy textures.

These wines provide a good survey of what’s possible with the grape in California. Massican is at one end of the style spectrum: sleek and polished, with lip-smacking acidity. Robert Mondavi Fumé Blanc Napa Valley To Kalon Vineyard Reserve and Coup de Foudre are richer, smoother and creamier examples.

Massican is sleek and polished, with bright Meyer lemon, Key lime and ruby grapefruit flavors. A hint of pineapple juice imparts lip-smacking acidity on the crisp, bright finish. Drink now. 90 points.

2015 Hyde: Pure and juicy [Chardonnay], delivering tasty white peach and nectarine notes at the core, with touches of spice and citrus and light oak, if any. Ends clean and refreshing. Drink now. 88 points.
